To Success

I am often asked my top tip. This is it: Health doesn't need to be restricted by diet and exercise.

Your health is all you do with it. The real distinction between healthy and unhealthy is giving a damn about your body; and making sure you do something--heck, anything--consistently so that you can live a long, active life, take care of yourself, and take care of others in this world.

I am a firm believer in the importance of setting goals and demonstrating good behaviours. Also, sustainable sharing is important to me. It frustrates more than anything that we have lost sight the real goal. We need smarter ways to make exercising and healthy eating seamless parts of every person's life.

You will notice that I didn’t mention lifting weights, cardio, or recommending a diet. Or even recommending flawless healthy eating. Do you have any suggestions? Yes. But I refuse be dogmatic and insist that there's only one way.

This is a recipe for disaster. Only a tiny percentage of people truly love all healthy behaviors.

Let me be real, I have been one of those people. Give me Brussels sprouts and chicken every day, and you'll see me with a wider smile than the Enzyte guys. That's not normal. It's not what to expect of yourself.

We need to be more aware of all aspects of health and redefine them. My belief is that dessert should be part of healthy eating. Walking can also be a good form of exercise. If you find these behaviors appealing, you can and should make it a part of your everyday life.

Fit your square life in the circle of someone else's definitions of fitness.

My journey led to one simple goal: Help you find the right diets, exercises, and workouts to help you live longer, be more fit, feel better and live longer.

These options may also help you to lose weight, build muscle, and get rid of your baby weight. These are added bonuses.

Your job is finding out about all available options. Healthy living can be described as a buffet. Although there's certainly some Szechuan chicken to be avoided (yeah! that's my metaphor of bad info), there are enough good options to make it easy to enjoy a happy life and live a healthy one.

Here lies the big message: There is no reason to be anxious or feel like you don't deserve a healthier body, a happier mind, or a better quality of life.

I encourage all of you to take advantage of the many choices available. You can exercise however you wish, in whatever way suits your needs, be it at the gym, on the fields, or at home. It's best to eat healthier foods, but you can also indulge in less healthy foods, if you so choose.

This realization does not have to take place while looking down at a 65-pound dumbbell.
